Surrogates

So this was a decent enough movie, but nothing great. I’m not sure exactly what it was lacking, maybe a little predictable. I mean it had a very cool foundation to build on, with the surrogates and all, but the story itself was nothing terribly exciting. Maybe it was the lack of interesting characters and therefore opportunities for witty dialogue. There was no substance to the characters, just tidbits here and there. Which would be fine if this was strictly an action flick, but it wasn’t. It’s like they couldn’t decide if this was gonna be a movie of substance or strictly action, and therefore did a little of both. Which only left it falling a little short in both. It also felt a little like the “I, Robot” story, with a slight twist to it, giving it a “been there, done that” feeling. Which is unfortunate, cause I really liked the idea behind it, and with some better writing, bigger scenes and more substance, this could have been on level with the first “Transformers” movie.

Again, not a bad movie. But not a must see either. If you got a lazy evening, with 90 minutes to kill, check it out.
